I believe
one of the greatest obstacles in our industry today, that is choking
the very life out of our organizations, is apathy. I saw an appropriate
sign on this subject the other day that said: The "Apathy
in the Workplace" seminar has been postponed indefinitely
due to lack of interest. Comments I hear from many managers are similar
to another sign I saw that said "Your next raise will be effective
whenever you are."
If the Board of Directors, CEO and senior management reinforce ethical
principles by modeling them,
an organization can thrive; if not the organization may become ethically
bankrupt. The decline of collective responsibility and the rise of
individual accountability are evidenced in the avoidance of trust,
energy, decisiveness and commitment, and the involvement in cynicism
and apathy in the workplace. Just like with parenting, our children
become what we are, not what we tell them to do, or how we want them
to act. Employees within an organization are nothing more than the
offspring of what has been modeled
to them by their management.
Today it is frequently not important whether a decision or behavior
is good or bad, or even whether it is legal or illegal, but what each
individual considers to be the right thing to do. As a result there
are many victims who are pointing the finger of blame for wrongdoing
at other people or circumstances. Protecting one's personal good has
often times become more important than promoting the common good in
of the organization or environment. Many times these individual behaviors
not only originate from within the organization, but are also endorsed
and/or modeled by the
top management of the organization.
Top managers in public and private organizations are those who promote
and maintain an ethical work climate. An ethical work climate, as
defined by Dr. John Bruhn a well-known Leadership Strategist, is one
of openness, respect, compliance and dialogue. Exemplary leaders are
those who do the right thing in the course of daily work, telling
the truth, treating others fairly and discouraging prejudice and resistance
to change. Exemplary leaders maintain congruence between what they
say they will do and what they actually do. Consistencies and discrepancies
between what is said and done become apparent within organizations.
When discrepancies occur, the virtues and bottom line of the organization
are called into question. For example, why are some people rewarded
for behavior that is ignored or sanctioned for others?

Since
1999, CEC Energy Consultants has been an engineering
consultant and project management firm that allows clients to out-source
operations, engineering, and business development projects while its
client maintains project control. Outsourcing and exploitation of
a client's projects maximizes profitability by allowing production
and revenues to continue to be credited towards quarterly earnings,
and personnel and capital to be focused on more important projects
that directly impact corporate financials.
CEC Energy Consultants uses industry software such
as Geoplus Corporation's Petra and Petraseis Workstations for geologic,
geophysics and engineering functions, to enhance the identification
of new business development opportunities with existing or newly acquired
assets. Petra is unparalleled in its ability to build isopach maps
and log cross-sections, but more importantly from an engineering standpoint,
to analyze and screen public data sources for acquisition and drilling
prospect leads as well as other advanced geologic, geophysics and
engineering functions.
CEC Energy Consultants provides a highly technical
and qualified team whose members work together to maximize the amount
of reservoir information gleaned from seismic data and provide an
integrated property assessment that gives an accurate evaluation of
reserves in the ground as well as the upside potential of the property
based on seismic data calibrated to existing engineering data.
CEC Energy Consultants' expertise in using the latest
technology application tools will result in reserve additions and
well productivity enhancements to your asset base. Visit our website
